Fresh initiative by RSP to promote local culture

Rourkela: Taking a fresh initiative to promote local culture, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) is organising ‘Synergy- Lok Mahotsav’ as a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. 

The objective of the Mahotsav is to provide a forum to the local talents to display their talent. Besides it also improves the community engagement level of RSP.

As a part of this, zonal level dance festivals were organised in  Relaposh (Nuagaon Block), Birkera (Lathikata Block), Dumerjore (Kuarmunda Block) and Sarubahal (Bisra Block), in the month of October.  In each of these functions 25 teams from the block took part. The first, second and third teams were awarded with Rs 5000, Rs 4000 and Rs 3000, while the other participating teams were awarded with Rs 1000 each.  The competitions evoked enthusiastic response from the villagers and thousands of them gathered at the venue to enjoy the dance extravaganza.

The final round of the competition is going to be held at Bhanja Bhawan, Rourkela on December 16, 2012. The competitions will commence at 11.00 am. The first three teams from each block will be participating in this mega finale round.  The team winning the 1st prize will get Rs 20,000, while the winners of the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th positions will be getting Rs 15,000, Rs. 10,000, Rs. 5,000 and Rs 4,000 respectively.

TechnoPrep launches offline NEET classes in Rourkela

Rourkela: TechnoPrep, a premier entrance coaching website in the country, announced launching of its offline classes exclusively for NEET (Medical) coaching in Rourkela. Developmental trial of Astra missile conducted

Rourkela: India today conducted developmental trial of its indigenously developed beyond visual range (BVR) air-to-air missile ‘Astra’ from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur, about 15 km from Balasore. The sophisticated missile was test-fired from a launcher in launch pad-2 of the ITR at about 01.25 PM targeting a flying object being supported by a pilotless target air-craft ‘Lakshya’, defence sources said. The single stage, solid fuelled ‘Astra’ missile is more advanced in its category than the contemporary BVR missiles and is capable of engaging and destroying highly manoeuvrable supersonic aerial targets. The 3.8-metre long missile, having a diameter of 178 mm with an overall launch weight of 160 kg, can carry a warhead containing conventional explosives weighing 15 kg.
