RSP making all out efforts for customer satisfaction


Rourkela: Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP)  is consistently improving the quality of  its products, developing new products,  ensuring better  packaging and  transportation and boosting  after sales services to the best satisfaction of the customers. The steps taken in Plate Mill speak  volumes about the endeavours of  the  organization in this regard.

It is worth mentioning here that the production potential of the Plate Mill is 0.5 Million Tonnes per annum. The size of the plates rolled out have thickness between 8 to 63 mm, width between 1000 to 2500 mm and length between 4500 to 13500 mm.

The Mill produces an array of plates right from Structural quality, Boiler quality, Pressure vessel quality, Ship building quality, dead soft quality and defence quality.     

To address problems pertaining to mismatch of Plate numbers the Steel plant has taken steps for Punching of Heat number and stencilling of plate number and grade on the plates. Besides, pile handling has also been introduced.

There has been marked improvement in the quality of heavy plate cutting edges, while the length allowance has been kept up to 10 mm.  Online ultrasonic testing facility is in operation for plates up to 20 mm and calibrations of the weigh bridges have been carried out to eliminate any error in weighing.  This apart, several steps have been taken to ensure  hassle free and speedy  dispatch.

The consistent improvements brought about in the products and service provided  have indeed made the customers happier with  RSP’s  products.
