‘Tara Rum Pum’ road show flagged off

Rourkela: MBC TV went on a publicity blitz today in Steel City for its much-awaited programme ‘Tara Rum Pum’ to be held on December 22 this year at Uditnagar ground.

MBC COO, Kali Prasad Mishra, flagged off the road show in the presence of Odia cinestar Sabyasachi at Uditnagar ground. Speaking on the occasion, Sabyasachi said, “Rourkela is going to rock on December 22.” He added that he will come to present an event as part of this show, which will entrall the denizens in the Steel City. He sought cooperation from all quarters for success of the programme.

Mishra informed that entry pass for the show is free for all and it will pass off peacefully.

Hundred of bikers hit the streets in Rourkela, shouting slogans ‘Tara Rum Pum ku safal kara…. safal kara…’. Thousands of denizens and passersby were seen catching the glimpse of the cinestar and the finalists of Tara Rum Pum, who were being escorted on a jeep.

Later, three stage shows were organised at Amar Bhawan near Madhusudan Marg, VSS Market, Chhend and Ambagan Market.

Finalists of the show were Ushashree, Aparna, Smruti and Tanushree along with the cinestar set the stage ablaze by their marvelous performance.

Developmental trial of Astra missile conducted

Rourkela: India today conducted developmental trial of its indigenously developed beyond visual range (BVR) air-to-air missile ‘Astra’ from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur, about 15 km from Balasore. The sophisticated missile was test-fired from a launcher in launch pad-2 of the ITR at about 01.25 PM targeting a flying object being supported by a pilotless target air-craft ‘Lakshya’, defence sources said. The single stage, solid fuelled ‘Astra’ missile is more advanced in its category than the contemporary BVR missiles and is capable of engaging and destroying highly manoeuvrable supersonic aerial targets. The 3.8-metre long missile, having a diameter of 178 mm with an overall launch weight of 160 kg, can carry a warhead containing conventional explosives weighing 15 kg.
