NIT Rourkela students achieve second position in Team Roadrunner competition

Rourkela, Aug 26: National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela students has brought laurels in Team Roadrunner competition, a national level event- ‘SUPRA SAEINDIA Student Formula-2014’ organised at Madras Motor Sports Club in Chennai, informed RK Sinha, Secretary Public Relation of the institute today. Team Roadrunner, a team of 25 students from various disciplines of engineering of the NIT, Rourkela, participating in the national level event had succeeded in achieving 2nd position among 100 teams across the country in engineering design category for which it bagged a cash prize of Rs 20,000 awarded by ANSYS INDIA along with a trophy. “Our students fabricated a formula style racing car employing a Yamaha R6 600 cc engine imported from the USA. Bhubaneswar, Aug 25: Special Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court of CBI this evening allowed the CBI officials to take Artha Tatwa (AT) Group chief Pradip Sethy and his accountant Shrikrushna Padhi on 10 days remand to interrogate them on their role in the multi-crore chit fund scam case in Odisha. ‘Handbook of ICS Agreements 2014-15’ of Rourkela Steel Plant released

Rourkela, Aug 25: In a function organized at HRD Centre today the ‘Handbook for ICS Agreements -2014-15’ of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) was released by G S Prasad, CEO. Ashwani Kumar, ED (Works), V Sankarnarayanan, GM Incharge (MS) and DK Mishra, DGM (BE) graced the dais along with the CEO. Executive Directors, General Managers as well HODs of various departments had attended the function. In his address the RSP CEO congratulated the Business Excellence collective for the painstaking efforts made by it in making the ICS Agreement book 2014-15 a reality. He urged the participating Customer and Supplier departments to excel in their performance as required by the ICS model. He also expressed his desire that the Engineering and project consulting organizations involved in expansion of RSP to be included in ICS Model of RSP as suppliers so as to bridge the gap between the delivery by them and the expectation of RSP from them. Rourkela, Aug 20: Sadbhavana Diwas was observed at Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) here today.   On this occasion, a pledge was taken in Odia, Hindi and English by Plant employees that they will work for the emotional oneness and harmony of all the people of India regardless of caste, creed, region, religion or language. They further pledged that they shall resolve all differences among themselves through dialogue and constitutional means without resorting to violence. Bike-lifter arrested in city, 9 motorcycles seized

Bhubaneswar, Aug 14: Commissionerate Police today arrested a bike lifter from Saheed Nagar area here and recovered nine motorcycles looted by him from different locations in the city. Accused Satya Paikaray with stolen bikes The looter was identified as 22-year-old Satya Paikaray of Sarana area under Tangi police limits in Khordha district. He was staying at Saheed Nagar area in the city during last few months. According to Saheed Nagar police station IIC Deepak Mishra, they nabbed Paikaray while investigating a motorcycle theft case. On the basis of a complaint lodged by a youth Pabitra Swain of Saheed Nagar yesterday about his bike loot, the police staff swung into action and recovered the looted bike along with other eight bikes lifted by the accused, he added. Rourkela, Aug 14: Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), a unit of the Maharatna Company SAIL, has bagged a host of National level awards. Three employees of the Steel plant have been selected to receive the prestigious Prime Minister’s Shram Awards. Upendra Maharana, SOST, Tonnage Oxygen Plant-II has bagged the award in Shram Vir Category. He will be receiving a cash award of Rs. 60,000 and a ‘Sanad’. Manoj Kumar Pradhan, Sr. Technician, ERWPP has bagged the Shram Shree award while Mrs Rajalaxmi Acharya, Senior Instructor, HRD Centre has got the Shram Devi award. Each one of them will be receiving a cash award of Rs. 40,000 and a ‘Sanad.’ It is worth mentioning here that RSP is the only SAIL unit figuring in the list of 40 Prime Minister's Shram Awardees for 2013.  Mrs Acharya is the only lady employee from a Public Sector to receive the Shram Devi award. Jhirpani team wins Samvardhan Rural Football Tournament organized by RSP

Rourkela, Aug 11: The team from Jhirpani village bagged the Winners’ Trophy in the Samvardhan Rural Football Tournament organized by Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP). In a toughly contested final held at Ispat Stadium here yesterday, Jhirpani team from Bisra block defeated the team from Sunmarin village of Lathikata block 3-1 to win the tournament. Winners receiving trophy and certificates from guests Mrs Manjari Prasad, president of Deepika Mahila Sanghati (DMS) graced the concluding function as the Chief Guest. Congratulating the winners and the runners-up team Mrs Prasad, along with Mrs Sharmistha Das, Mrs Jyotsna Acharya and Mrs Sabiata Kumar, all vice presidents of DMS as well as S Pradhan, GM (F&A) and PK Pradhan, GM (TA& CSR) awarded the trophies and certificates to them. The champion Jhirpani team was presented with a cash award of Rs 10,000 along with a trophy, while the runners-up Sunmarin team was presented with a cash award of Rs 8,000 along with a trophy.

Odisha chit fund scam: CBI raids Green India offices, homes of its officials

Bhubaneswar, Aug 7: The CBI team today conducted raids on different offices of Green India Finance (GIF), a chit fund company. Nine teams of CBI conducted simultaneous raids at several places in Bhubaneswar and Berhampur branch offices of GIF and the residences of company directors Pradeep Singh at Ayodhya Nagar and Suneel Panda at Ashok Nagar in Berhampur city, sources said. The company had allegedly duped several gullible investors of crores of rupees through fixed deposit, recurring deposit (RD), in providing house and land loans and different products under different schemes created by it, sources added. Sources stated that the CBI has found several incriminating documents from the offices and houses of the directors of the company during sudden raids which would be help for them during investigation. 60 investors of Berhampur area had lodged a complaint with the Berhampur Town police station against the chit-fund company on August 4, 2013 acting on which the CBI
