Infant gets new lease of life after successful bronchoscopy by doctors of IGH

Rourkela, May 23: The medical expertise and timely intervention of the doctors and staff of Ispat General Hospital (IGH) of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) have once again saved the life of an infant who reached the hospital on May 20 this year, in a critical condition. An 8-month old baby boy Umesh Chhatar from Bargarh aspirated a piece of vegetable accidentally on May 20 morning which got struck in his lower airway. He was rushed to the Bargarh Hospital in a critical condition. He was then referred by the Bargarh hospital to VSS Medical College, Burla who in turn referred the patient to IGH, Rourkela. At the time of admission to IGH, the infant’s condition had worsened. He was in shock, suffered from severe breathlessness and was diagnosed with alarmingly low oxygen saturation. Eviction drive in Odisha capital: unauthorized constructions over IDCO land cleared

Bhubaneswar, May 22: As per the schedule, the Joint Eviction Team consisting of Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), IDCO and GA departments rushed to the Ambatota Basti for demolition of unauthorized constructions over IDCO land on Friday. The encroached land was situated under Chandrasekharpur Mauza measuring area of 6.28 acres. The same eviction was started from yesterday (21.05.2015) following a requisition made by Divisional Head, BCD division of IDCO vide Letter No.-1237 noticed on May 14 this year. 63 numbers of dwelling houses, 5 Cowshed, 2 wooden cabins and 2 temporary shops was demolished by the squad engaged in the eviction drive. Demolition squad of BDA and GA along with OSSF personals and Home Guards of BDA were also present. Bhubaneswar, May 22: Notorious Odisha gangster Anil Chhotray, along with 15 others, was today acquitted by a local court here in connection with the sensational Prachi Division shootout case in the capital city in April 2005. Bhubaneswar, May 22: Dhauli Police Station IIC Debi Prasad Das was nabbed red-handed by Vigilance officials here today while he was taking bribe of Rs 10,000 from a person staying in Lingipur area in order to drop a case. Dhauli police station IIC Debi Prasad Das Getting alerted a 15 member team of Vigilance officials headed by Vigilance Cell DSP Debadutta Seth conducted surprise raid at the residence of the IIC located in Pokhariput area and seized the said amount from Das. Rakesh Das of Sasan Damodarpur Village in Puri district at present staying at Lingipur here had informed the Vigilance officials that the IIC had demanded Rs 20,000 from him to drop the case being registered against him and save him from arrest. Bhubaneswar, May 22: Parents of Kumari Suchita, a student of Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT), who had reportedly committed suicide on November 18 last year, today sought mediapersons intervention bringing allegation that their daughter was murdered. Bhubaneswar, May 21: After nearly 16 months of the incident, the District and Sessions Judge Court here today convicted a man to 10 years imprisonment for hurling crude bomb on to the CBI Special Court Judge dais in Odisha capital. Upendra Mohanty The judgement was passed by assistant session Judge PL Sathpathy.  Upendra Mohanty alias Netaji, a 63-year-old man belonging to Sarangpur village of Bari in Jajpur district, was arrested by the Badagada police soon after he hurled two crude bombs at the CBI Special Court Judge dais during lunch break on January 27 last year. Police had registered a case against Mohanty under sections 307, 342, 341 and 3/4 Explosive Act on the next day and forwarded him to a local court here. Mohanty had hurled an improvised fire cracker at the Judge’s dais during lunch time when the CBI judge Manoj Kumar Panda was in his chamber but not in court room.
